    Mr. Brainwash

The show mixes pop culture and street art.

Here’s a few photos from the recent Mr Brainwash exhibition in London which mixes pop culture and street art.

The Mr and Mrs Andrews (1750) oil on canvas portrait by Thomas Gainsborough which featured the Beckhams heads was probably the highlight of the show.

    Illustrator Stanley Chow

Stanley is one my favourite illustrators right now and he has carried this summer of sport into his work.

I love the simplicity of some of his work, he manages to capture all the characteristics while still keeping it simple and clean. Such a cool style!

You can view more of Stanley’s work here.

Road to 2012: Aiming High - National Portrait Gallery

Finally decided to check out the Road to 2012 exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. I had been meaning to drop in earlier but every time I walked past (many times) I was on the way to somewhere with no time.

It’s not the biggest exhibition but it makes up that in the quality of the work. The photos are carefully considered and show the athletes/coaches in their training/working environments. We are given an insight into what the last few years have been like for these modern gladiators.

Definitely check it out if you get a chance, I have posted a few of favourites above.

    Adidas: Take the Stage

During the Olympics Adidas paid £2.25m deal to run cover wraps around freesheet Metro every day of London Olympics, making it the largest newspaper advertising deal of the 2012 Games.

They were designed by Sid Lee in collaboration with the Church of London. Each day featured an illustration of a different Team GB Olympian. Usually showing them a Superhero like figure.

I have posted a few of my favourites above.

Mapping the City - Jenni Sparks

Stumbled across this hand-drawn map of London by Jenni Sparks the other day. Amazing detail, and makes for funny reading for someone who knows London.

It took Jenni over 100 hours to complete and was commissioned by Evermade and is meant to reflect a Londoners London.

London 2012 Olympic Games - Thomas Braestrup

“Since I was a bit disappointed with the official olympic posters, I decided to make a series myself. The series consists of three posters focusing on what the athletes go through, by emphasizing the words “blood”, “sweat” and “tears” in the colors of the Olympic rings.”

“The series is expanded with other words as seen in the last picture.”

    Really nice work from Thomas.

    Hipster Ipsum

    beckykinkead:

“Lorem Ipsum” is a popular website that provides graphic and web designers filler text for their design (the text is in latin). “Hipster Ipsum” is a similar text generator, except it pumps out cliche hipster terms. In an ongoing attempt to broaden my design style, I decided to create a Hipster Ipsum advertisement which incorporates the comical text!
